Strategic Summary:
Welcome back for another Creative Deck Profile, and welcome to my first CDP featuring the new Artmage archetype. This start to our new set of Lore themes packs quite a punch, so let’s start with the key card of the theme – Artmage Academic Arcane Arts Acropolis [AAAAA]. AAAAA lets you discard any S/T to tutor an Artmage monster, giving you insane access to the entirety of the theme. This effect can even be used multiple times in the same turn, letting you consistency access Artmage Finmel, Artmage Litera, and Artmage Graflare, without needing too many additional copies of them. If you happen to discard Artmage Movement -Lineage- (YGOrg Translation) or Artmage Peripeteia -Turmoil- (YGOrg Translation) for AAAAA, both trigger a secondary effect to recover an Artmage Trap or Spell respectively from your GY or banishment. If you tutored the Field Spell with Artmage Varnish -Alteration-, this means you’ll quickly amass all the Artmage resources you need to unleash their best plays, such as Finmel’s Quick effect to negate all monsters your opponent controls or Nerva the Power Patron of Creation to turn any activated Artmage monster effect into a bomb to destroy all cards your opponent controls. While Artmage alone has all of these plays, it’s not quite enough to carry a duel, so I turned to the Dracotail theme to fill out the rest of today’s deck!
The Dracotail archetype consists of Dragons and Spellcasters that aim to Fusion Summon threats of both Types, and they offer quite a bit of power in their Normal Trap cards that each offer unique disruption capabilities. Dracotail Sting (YGOrg Translation) is the newest, banishing a monster and/or S/T in the opponent’s GY, joining the original Dracotail Flame, to negate a face-up Spell, and Dracotail Horn, to bounce an Attack Position monster. Each also draws you a card if you also place a Dracotail card in your GY or banishment back on the bottom of your Deck, while disrupting the opponent! Add this to Dracotail Faimena for ‘Turn 1’ Fusion Summons even if you’re going second, and you have plenty of power and opportunity to seize control of the duel and never let it go. Add in their bonus for being used for Fusion Material, and you will quickly see why this archetype from Justice Hunters is one to be feared!
