Strategic Summary:

Welcome to today’s CDP, featuring the Paleozoic archetype supported by a few familiar, fiendish faces! The Paleozoic theme consists predominantly of Normal Trap cards that can Special Summon themselves from the GY as Level 2 Normal Monsters whenever a Trap Card is activated. In addition, each has an effect that can chip away at your opponent, one card at a time. For example, Paleozoic Olenoides gets to destroy an S/T on the field or Paleozoic Canadia can flip a monster face-down. But once these Paleozoic monsters eventually get to the field, the R2NK Xyz Monsters of the archetype come out to play. Paleozoic Opabinia offers consistency, tutoring any Paelozoic Trap, as well as letting you activate them from your hand, no setting required! On the other hand, Paleozoic Anomalocaris gets to excavate the top card of your deck (then setting it if its a Normal Trap) whenever a Trap Card is sent from your S/T zone to the GY. Additionally, it has a Quick Effect to detach a material and destroy a card on the field. Oh – one last thing – did I mention that every Paleozoic is unaffected by other monster effects? Including the effect of your own Divine Arsenal AA-ZEUS – Sky Thunder? Sick.

All of these miniature disruptions are great, but little disruptions aren’t enough to win a duel. Thus, we need to turn to bigger fish to help win! What bigger fish are there then the Labrynth monsters? While they aren’t really Fish, they certainty know how to enhance your Normal Trap Cards, whether it is Lady Labrynth of the Silver Castle tutoring them or Lovely Labrynth of the Silver Castle recovering them. If those weren’t enough, Absolute King Back Jack also makes an appearance, letting you grab even more Trap cards for your activating pleasure. With all of these Trap Cards, and tons of chaining potential, Accumulated Fortune serves as a great primary source of Draw power, but I also included Time-Tearing Morganite for the same purpose! You see, eventually an opponent will just have enough, as your Paleozoic monsters keep coming back from the GY and their cards keep being whittled away.

You may be asking, what happens if your opponent puts out monsters that negate your effects? To that I have one card for you: Witch’s Strike. This Trap Card is so fun to resolve, destroying all cards they control and in hand, letting you win the duel then and there. If they can’t negate you, you’re also able to just ignore their monsters by flipping them face-down with Destructive Daruma Karma Cannon. Or, better yet, stall out the duel with your copies of Waboku, or the GY effect of Rise to Full Height. At any rate, there is one card that stands out as the biggest key card of the build: Transaction Rollback. With its ability to copy any Normal Trap effect from your GY, Rollback will endlessly re-use your Trap Cards, once it’s sent there from the deck with Needlebug Nest or Paleozoic Marrella. Even after it is banished for its own effect, Paleozoic Leanchoilia can put it right back in the GY, putting you back on top of your game. Want to throw your opponent into a Trap-tastic adventure? Then dust off your Paleozoic cards and let them have it!
