- Tenpai is a play on Tenpai, which is a tile short of winning in Mahjong. Comparatively, it’s like declaring Check in Chess.
- Sangen here refers to probably a play on the Sangenpai, three tiles representing a White, Red and Green Dragon, that represent the three core Confucian Values: Filial Piety (respect for your parents/elders), Humane behavior, and a respect for ritual (i.e. doing things a certain way has a purpose).
